Newcastle United are in the picture to sign Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson, according to a report from Turkey.
The centre-back joined the Istanbul club from FC Copenhagen in 2021 and has been a regular since then, making 70 appearances in all competitions. His fine displays have attracted attention from other European clubs.
That’s according to Sabah, who only mention Newcastle when it comes to clubs interested in the 24-year-old The defender’s contract runs down in 2026 but he could change clubs in the summer.
It’s explained the ‘highest bid’ for the player is from the Magpies, which is around €20m. The report doesn’t make it clear whether Eddie Howe’s side are willing to make this offer or if they have already put forward that bid for Nelsson.
The Süper Lig side’s plan is to sell the Denmark international and they are expected to ‘make money’ from his transfer in the summer.
Galatasaray have received approval from their manager, Okan Buruk, to bring in a new centre-back, if Nelsson were to leave after this season. They have already identified Fluminense’s Nino as a potential target to replace the Dane.
