Brentford like Sampdoria star Mikkel Damsgaard and have made a first offer to sign him this summer, according to Sky Italia.
The Bees’ initial proposal includes €11m fee plus an additional €7m as potential bonus payments.
This proposal from Brentford has not been accepted by the Serie A side. The report adds they have ‘asked for more’ money for the winger, but don’t mention the fee the Italian club are demanding for the 22-year-old.
Despite the difference in valuation between the two clubs, the report states the deal ‘can still be closed’.
There is a feeling among the parties involved in this operation that an agreement can be reached so that the Denmark international can join Thomas Frank’s side.
Brentford have several Danes, Christian Nørgaard, Mads Bech Sørensen, Mads Roerslev and Luka Račić, at the club, including their manager. A move to the Premier League side would see Damsgaard join up with several of his compatriots.
The attacker failed to score a goal or register an assist from 12 games in all competitions last season. His appearances for Sampdoria were restricted due to a thigh injury.
