Leicester City like Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret, according to multiple claims from Italy.

Kasper Schmeichel is the first-choice keeper for the Foxes and has a contract expiring in less than 12 months. OGC Nice are said to be interested in him and he seems keen to join them this summer.

Leicester will need to bring in a replacement before considering to let the Dane move away from the King Power Stadium. This is where Meret fits in.

Italian journalist Ciro Venerato told RAI Sport, relayed by Area Napoli, that Meret is destined to leave the Serie A side, if Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga’s arrives on loan. When discussing his suitors, Torino and the English club are mentioned.

According to Venerato, Napoli are aware Brendan Rodgers’ side follow their custodian. The latter have identified three goalkeepers, including Meret, if Schmeichel were to be sold.

With a contract expiring in 2023, the journalist adds Italian club value Meret around €15m plus bonuses [close to €5m]. They are also looking for a percentage from the future sale.

Calciomercato.it also explain Meret’s future will hang in balance if Kepa joins Napoli on a loan deal.

The former has been asked to make a choice between finding a club that will buy him this summer, stay at Napoli or extend the contract with them until 2024 and then go out on loan.

It’s also said Leicester could ‘come forward’ to sign Luciano Spalleti’s man if Schmeichel were to join Nice. Napoli, for their part, will ask around €25m for Meret, but believe a deal can be concluded for €15m plus bonuses.
