Galatasaray are considering a move for Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur as they look to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Bülent Timurlenk, relayed by TV100, who say the Turkish side ‘may add’ a star football player to their squad in the winter window and the Tottenham man is a signing they are looking at.
They report that Galatasaray are looking at the Tottenham midfielder, who is currently valued at €40m and therefore would not be easy to sign.
They’re not looking at a permanent transfer, though, and instead would try for a loan deal until the end of the season.
That’s all the website offers on the matter at this point, so we’ll have to take it with a pinch of salt for now, but the interest certainly appears to be there nonetheless.
Galatasaray have a solid relationship with Tottenham after the summer transfer window, during which they signed both Tanguy Ndombele (on loan) and Davinson Sanchez (permanently) from Spurs late on.
The midfielder has certainly not worked out and reports have indicated that they want to send him back in January, so perhaps they are looking at Bentancur as a replacement.
It remains to be seen if Tottenham would sanction a deal, though, particularly as Ange Postecoglou is set to lose Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma to the African Cup of Nations and presumably wouldn’t want to lose Bentancur without first having a replacement lined up.
That is presumably why they add that a deal ‘may not be easy’ to get done, but it seems the Turkish side will be trying nontheless.
