Rangers were apparently one of the clubs to lose out race to sign Mato Milos from Croatian side NK Istra this summer.

As reported by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the player has just joined Benfica on a €400k deal, and has already been training at the club despite not having been announced yet.

The outlet claims that Benfica had been following Milos for years, and went for a deal in the past couple of weeks. Slavia Praga, Rangers, Lokomotiv Moscow and Dinamo Zagreb were the clubs left behind in the race.

It’s said that Milos chose the Eagles over Rangers and others because of being a ‘big club’ with ‘frequent Champions League presence’. And considering the transfer fee, we can only imagine that money wasn’t a problem for the Rangers to land him.

Pedro Caixinha has been using James Tavernier at right-back, and there doesn’t appear any great need for Rangers to change that.
