According to Hurriyet, Turkish businessman Acun Ilicali is close to completing a takeover of Hull City.
Ilicali, who is considered to be a media giant in Turkey, is a big fan of football and has previously revealed his dream is to buy a club in England. If Hurriyet’s reports are accurate, he’s very close to achieving this by purchasing Hull City.
Ilicali invested in Fortuna Sittard last summer, but it’s been reported in the past he’s ready to distance himself from the Dutch club in order to buy a club in England.
The Fenerbahce fan has very close ties with footballers and it’s been said he was instrumental in the Istanbul club signing Mesut Ozil in the last winter transfer window.
Hurriyet claim Ilicali is in constant contact with Hull City owner Ehab Allam and that talks between the two sides are progressing very well.
The Tigers won League One last season and will now compete in the Championship.
