Last week, Sky Germany reported that Arsenal showed interested in Christopher Nkunku before he moved to RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.
Operating in various attacking positions, the 23-year-old has seven goals and eight assists in all competitions this season.
The Gunners’ keeping tabs on the attacking midfielder has also been reported by media closer to the London club.
Claims made in England have been relayed by Bild and they provide their stance on this case.
It’s claimed the rumoured ‘interest doesn’t come as a surprise’, considering his good form for the Bundesliga side. However, the possibility of the Frenchman changing clubs in the summer is ‘unlikely’.
According to Bild, there is ‘nothing in the rumour’ yet linking Nkunku to the north London club because there has been ‘no contact’ between the player and Arsenal, and also between the two sides, so far.
In addition to this, the former PSG man ‘feels at home’ with Leipzig and is appreciated by Julian Nagelsmann.
The outlet further states a move to the Premier League club makes ‘no sense’ because they are unlikely to qualify for next season’s Champions League through a top four finish, while Leipzig will be playing in Europe’s elite club competition.
