The Gunners were keen on signing Arthur and Dušan Vlahović in the winter market. The midfielder stayed at Juventus, while the striker snubbed the north London club and joined the Old Lady from Fiorentina.
Arsenal could be given a fresh opportunity to land the Brazil international in the upcoming window.
The 25-year-old returned to action in his side’s 2-1 win over Venezia, after missing the previous two league matches due to an ankle injury. He is training with the first team ahead of the weekend clash against Genoa.
According to Calciomercato, the former Barcelona man ‘seemed devoid of concentration and particularly nervous’ while training for the tie against Genoa. With the next window approaching, his position in the squad is ‘increasingly in the balance’.
Mikel Arteta’s side failed to find the right formula to convince the Serie A side to sanction a transfer in January. Despite the failed attempts in the previous window, the report states the ‘parties could try again in the summer’. In other words, Arsenal could make another attempt for the South American.
Arthur, for his part, would ‘like to marry a project that allows him to have more space and become the focus of the game. Then [after this season], between Arthur and Juve, the time may come to separate’.
