Manchester United signed Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich in the summer window.
The Red Devils could return to the Bavarian club in the winter market if Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg is to be believed.
He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that Manchester United are keeping tabs on Bayern’s Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sané.
Plettenberg claims the Premier League side could possibly strengthen their squad in the winter market. They are looking for a midfielder and Goretzka is an ‘interesting candidate’ for Erik ten Hag’s side.
The 29-year-old has been limited to 14 minutes of action from three games this season, of which 13 were from two Champions League appearances. The Germany international has less than two years left on his deal.
Amid Manchester United’s interest, the journalist claims Goretzka wants to continue with the Bundesliga side beyond the January window.
Goretzka will turn 30 years of age next February and has struggled with injuries over the past three years or so. It wouldn’t make sense for Manchester United to bet on him.
Sané’s deal expires at the end of this season and is in talks with Vincent Kompany’s side for a renewal.
