Following Manchester United’s unexpected hunt for Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, it seems the La Liga giants have already started wondering about who could replace him.
And according to the latest reports from Spain, the player who could arrive from Santiago Bernabeu could come from the Premier League. That’s Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães.
Outlet AS writes that the 24-year-old is ‘the first on the list’ that Real Madrid have to replace Casemiro, becoming the ‘favourite’ target for that quest.
The operation to take Guimarães from Newcastle, however, is considered to be hard.
The report claims their sources close to the Magpies believe the English side will ask ‘a lot more than’ twice as much the €52m they paid to take him from Lyon in January.
AS highlights that since arriving at St. James’ Park in January, the Brazillian has managed to ‘arouse the admiration’ in the Premier League.
They also point out he was ‘one of the most outstanding players’ for Brazil in the Tokyo Olympics, and claim he’d ‘would grow exponentially’ under Carlo Ancelotti.
Since they believe Casemiro’s departure to Manchester United is a very real possibility, Newcastle should probably get prepared to fight for Guimarães’ stay.
