Over the weekend, Spanish radio presented Sandro Ramirez to Valencia as fact.
That’s what a lot of the Spanish radio programmes do. Take a story, pick what they think is the next logical step, and claim that’s already happened.
Monday’s edition of Super Deporte, which is almost certainly more reliable on Valencia matters, probably explains the situation better.
The Valencia regional newspaper say Everton are now involved in talks, it’s gone beyond the Spanish club just speaking to Sandro’s representatives.
Sandro is ‘the chosen one’ and very much Valencia’s first choice, and there’s confidence a deal can be found with Everton.
But Valencia have been overcome with a new sensible outlook on transfers and are also working on alternatives.
Initial contacts have been made with Kevin Gameiro, who is being edged out of Atletico Madrid.
That’s intriguing in itself, with Everton linked to Gameiro in the Spanish media.
An attempt on the Frenchman may be less likely now Sam Allardyce is in charge, but back in October the club were said to be ‘very interested’.
