At the time of writing it’s the early hours of the morning in Chile and their Friday newspapers haven’t yet been fully published, but claims from Thursday evening have been raising eyebrows among West Ham fans.
Pauta, a radio station we haven’t covered previously, claimed an exclusive that Pellegrini has signed on as West Ham manager and will be presented on Monday.
That’s very much to the point and came as a shock to many, but should it be true the situation hasn’t been without signals.
Last week we covered a report from Spanish newspaper Marca which stated Pellegrini was in ‘advanced talks’ with the manager, and had tried to appoint him in the winter.
It was explained that whilst European clubs probably wouldn’t be able to match Pellegrini’s Hebei Fortune wages, the manager fancied a return anyway.
In April, Chilean newspaper La Cuarta said a source close to the manager had confirmed contact from West Ham. The timeline of contact, then advanced talks, then agreement would flow quite well.
