It’s been over two weeks since Wolverhampton Wanderers showed the exit door to Bruno Lage and they have not yet appointed a new permanent manager.
Steve Davis is currently the interim manager as the Premier League side continue to search for Lage’s successor.
Julen Lopetegui, who left Sevilla earlier this month, was heavily linked with the vacant job at the Premier League side. He, however, turned down the option to join Wolves.
Recent claims in the UK mentioned the possibility of Nuno Espírito Santo returning to Molineux. The 47-year-old returned to the bench when Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad Club appointed him as their in July.
On Sunday evening, the ex-Porto boss made it clear his focus is with his current employer amid ‘rumours’ linking him to Wolves. Al-Ittihad Club vice president Ahmad Kaaki has now joined Nuno Espírito Santo in responding to these claims.
“Nothing official has reached the club regarding the English team’s desire to obtain the services of the coach, and all that is mentioned is incorrect,” Kaaki said, as quoted by Al Jazirah.
He also dismissed claims of the Portuguese tactician’s agent making a trip to Saudi Arabia.
“What was mentioned about the presence of the coach’s agent in Jeddah is incorrect, even if the coach wants to leave, the penalty clause is of a high financial value,” Kaaki explained.
