As things stand, it appears Maurizio Sarri is in the lead to take over from Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
The Napoli manager, who was allowed to leave the Serie A club and has since been replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, is everyone’s favourite, but if France Football are to be believed, he isn’t the only man the Blues are looking at.
According to the French magazine, Chelsea have also approached Laurent Blanc about the possibility of replacing the Italian in London, which they were already thinking about back in April.
France Football admit Sarri appears to be in the lead, but report that the former Paris Saint-Germain manager ‘very recently’ met with Marina Granovskaia, although nothing was decided during that particular encounter.
The Chelsea board member is said to have simply wanted to ‘evaluate his candidacy’ for the job.
It’s been nearly two years since Blanc left the Ligue 1 champions, as the former France national team manager has been waiting for the right project.
The 52-year-old was also linked with a move to Everton around April, which was an early sign Sam Allardyce wasn’t going to continue past the 2017-18 season.
