The Italian newspaper state his performance was a ‘step backwards’ from his previous efforts under Walter Mazzarri, and while nothing he did proved costly, neither did it help his side gain the advantage.
The Nigeria international also faced a familiar face in Wednesday’s encounter, as he ended up playing against Mario Pasalic, currently on loan at Atalanta.
Much like his Chelsea teammate, the Croatian failed to provide his side with the winning touch, but his performance as a whole was deemed superior, which says a lot considering he came on in the 72nd minute for Remo Freuler.
In that small amount of time, Gazzetta state his freshness was of great use in his side’s attempts at a final assault, but ultimately he couldn’t unlock a resilient Torino side who failed to have a shot on target throughout the game.
A rather tepid battle of the loanees, if you ask us.
