Earlier this week, SportBild reported Kai Havertz is a ‘dream’ signing for Frank Lampard, and everything ‘points to an agreement with Chelsea’ for his transfer.
It was also explained Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is unwilling to meet Bayer Leverkusen’s €100m plus bonuses demand, and the Blues are thinking of making an offer around €70m.
Sky in Germany now state the 21-year-old has already found an agreement with the Premier League side, and all other suitors are out of the race.
Havertz is determined to leave Leverkusen this summer and his ‘goal’ is to move to Stamford Bridge.
The west London club ‘absolutely want’ the attacking midfielder, but they ‘don’t want to pay more than necessary’.
Havertz remains hopeful the clubs can find a ‘quick solution’, and Chelsea also want to close the deal ‘as quickly as possible’. According to the report, transfer negotiations between the two sides will take place next week.
Sky’s transfer expert Marc Behrenbeck claims sources at Chelsea are stating they want to table a proposal of €80m plus bonuses.
This is €10m more than what was reported by SportBild on Wednesday, and Behrenbeck further adds Leverkusen will say ‘yes’ to the offer from the English club.
Time should tell if a fixed fee of €80m is sufficient for Chelsea to sign Havertz.
