For the past couple of weeks, we’ve covered quite a few stories about the future of the Chelsea midfielder Nathan.
The player’s loan at Atlético Mineiro expires in two months, and the Brazilian side are looking forward to keeping him for longer.
Nathan himself has repeatedly claimed that it’s wish to stay as well, although he’s not in control of the situation.
Since his contract with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2020, the Brazilian press have said there are two possibilities: he could rescind his deal with the Blues and move now, or extend his loan at Atlético for further six months.
But in a story from Lance this week, it’s said that Chelsea may not make things so easy for his departure. Their article claims that the Blues want to ‘recover the investment’ they’ve made to sign him in 2015.
Chelsea spent €3m to sign him from Athletico at the time. He’s had four loan spells since then, with no chance to make a single appearance for the Blues. That’s why it sounds very unlikely that the Stamford Bridge side could get a decent fee for his sale.
