Late on Tuesday, we covered the latest from Genoa’s pursuit of Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei, who is seen as one of the big promises of Italian football going football, amid interest from Leicester City.
The Blues paid €15m to acquire the midfielder, and then loaned him to Reading last season, where he got to discover English football the hard way.
He impressed, and that’s why there is a preference from Chelsea’s end, at least according to Gazzetta dello Sport, for him to stay in the country this season.
It’s explained that the option to send him to King Power Stadium is ‘preferred on paper’ by the Blues, as this would mean he wouldn’t have to leave England.
That being said, Genoa ‘don’t give up’, regardless of whether or not it’s seen as a ‘difficult operation’.
Their hope is that they can entice him with Serie A football after they were promoted from Serie B last season, while Leicester can only offer him second-tier minutes following the Foxes’ relegation.
Something to keep an eye on.
