There’s always some drama in the transfer window, and Chelsea are often not too far away from it.
Friday’s edition of Corriere della Sera details the complete mess of some transfer situations at Italy’s biggest clubs. Firstly, thankfully, it’s explained that Andre Onana’s move to Manchester United is on the verge of happening.
That gives Inter the liquidity to secure Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, but, and there was always likely to be a but, things aren’t that simple.
Inter had wanted a loan with a purchase obligation of €35m, but the Blues don’t think this is enough and have made their position clear. Chelsea also feel they have some strength because there’s other interest in Lukaku.
There’s said to be two offers from Saudi Arabia, but, intriguingly, also the possibility of a ‘mega exchange’ with Juventus.
Who, what, where?
Well, Corriere explain Dusan Vlahovic’s situation hasn’t improved at the Turin club. The striker is ‘not exactly in a loving relationship’ with manager Max Allegri.
Chelsea are said to have tried for his signing, but their efforts have somewhat been held back by waiting for funds for Lukaku, who they would prefer moves to Saudi.
How such a deal with Juventus would work isn’t really explained. Perhaps it’s just a possibility being floated to encourage Inter Milan to open their wallet a little wider.
