In their attempts to get rid of Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea did their best to get Dusan Vlahovic to come the other way, to no avail.
Juventus valued their striker quite highly, and wanted to make sure they would be getting money on top of the Belgian striker if a deal was struck, but nothing ever happened, and a lot has changed since then.
Journalist Fabio Santini had a chat with TV Play on Tuesday, where he discussed the Serbian’s situation, and how the Serie A side could let him go for a big loss if the right offer comes in, naming Chelsea as a recent interested party in the process.
He said: “Juventus would sell Vlahovic immediately, even in January. He has been a huge investment that so far has not even half paid them back. The problem is that there are no offers so it becomes difficult to think about his sale.
“He was bought for around €80m but Juventus have already put the idea out of their heads of getting that kind of money back. Until a while ago, I know of an interest from Chelsea with a €60m, but now I think Vlahovic can leave for half of what he was paid”.
Therefore, it seems that Chelsea, if they really do want Vlahovic at Stamford Bridge, can get their man for as little as €40m in the coming weeks.
Whether he is still a player Mauricio Pochettino even wants remains to be seen, and the player’s desire will also play a big part, as he is currently competing for the Serie A title with Juventus, while the Blues languish in 12th in the Premier League after a rather terrible start to the campaign.
