Thiago Silva is the latest player wanted by Chelsea, if multiple reports coming out of England are to be believed.

The centre-back’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires after the Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

On Friday, Téléfoot Chaîne backed reports the Brazilian is ‘really seduced’ by the idea of playing for Chelsea.

Today’s edition of L’Equipe acknowledges the English reports and suggests the Blues are the ‘one of the most pressing clubs today’ for the 35-year-old.

The newspaper also gives a background on the Premier League club’s interest in the defender.

They further add contacts between Frank Lampard’s side and the South American’s camp ‘are not recent and started three weeks ago’.

Chelsea initially wanted to strengthen their defence by bringing in an upcoming and promising centre-back. However, Frank Lampard opted for a ‘transition period’, of at least a year. There’s a ‘unanimous’ decision internally at Stamford Bridge on signing the player.

Silva has impressed for PSG since the restart, and L’Equipe state his signing fits into Chelsea’s long-term plans [which would be bringing a new centre-back next summer] for defence.

It’s claimed the Brazilian and Chelsea have continued contract negotiations in recent days.

Lampard’s side, however, have to beware of Fiorentina as there’s concrete interest from the Serie A side.
