It was also explained the Blues are joined by Real Madrid in the chase for the France international.
Wednesday’s edition of Sport names Thomas Tuchel’s side, the Spanish giants and Paris Saint-Germain as the 22-year-old’s suitors.
It’s claimed these three clubs ‘do not want to miss out on the latest discovery of French football’.
Although PSG are in the picture, at the moment, it seems that Los Blancos and the west London club are ahead. These two sides ‘start as favourites’ in the race to acquire the star’s services.
The ‘main problem’ for Chelsea is the situation at Stamford Bridge as they cannot make new signings due to the sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich, who is in the process of selling the club. 
If Chelsea are allowed to make signings, Sport state that they ‘have the necessary liquidity to offer’ the €60m fee demanded by the Ligue 1 side.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side seemed close to signing Tchouaméni, but the possibility to take Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland in the next window complicates any deal the Monaco star.
Chelsea can get ahead of Real Madrid and PSG in the race for Tchouaméni, if they can get the issues around the club resolved before the summer window opens.
