It all started off so well.
Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea era kicked off without any brakes on and it looked like the Blues were in for a good season, and an exciting spell under their latest Italian manager.
Then things started to go wrong and the mood around the club right now certainly isn’t a happy one. Defeat to Everton at the weekend, with the Toffees also struggling, was another blow and there’s even been tabloid claims that Sarri could go during the current international break.
Some of the criticism towards Sarri has been due to the manager’s insistence that Jorginho must play a specific role, even if that has a negative impact on N’Golo Kante and others.
Sarri is unlikely to completely change his outlook, so it may be a case of waiting either for things to come good or for Chelsea to dispense with his services.
Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos has been speaking to CalcioNapoli24 about the situation.
Asked about the Sarri criticism, he said: “The first year in the Premier League is always difficult, we hope the next season can be better. We need to raise the level of the game and also Jorginho wants to do it, we just have to wait for the right tactical and technical solution.”
On Chelsea’s struggles generally, he said: “When you’re dealing with a new style of play, you need time to do things the best way possible. We only have to wait for the future, because English football is certainly very beautiful.”
There you go, it’s all going to be fine.
