Since 2003, Italian newspaper Tuttosport picks one of the best young talents under the age of 21 for their performances in a calendar year and hands them The Golden Boy award.
This year’s winner will be announced on December 16th in Turin and the list of the nominees include Chelsea’s Mason Mount.
The 20-year-old spent the last season on loan at Derby County and finished the previous campaign with 11 goals and six assists under Frank Lampard’s guidance.
Lampard took charge at Stamford Bridge in the summer and Mount has been a regular inclusion in the west London club’s starting lineup this term.
He has managed four goals and an assist in the league and his performances also saw him make his debut for England last month.
Mount’s impressive display for Derby and Chelsea this season has been sufficient for him to make it to Tuttosport’s last 20.
He will compete with the likes of Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, Barcelona’s Ansu Fati, Atletico Madrid summer João Félix and others for The Golden Boy award.
