David Luiz has no hard feelings towards Sergio Aguero.
The relationship between the two South American players became quite tense during Chelsea’s away match against Manchester City earlier this season, when the Argentine striker was sent off after two bad tackles on the defender.
The players reunited last night at Stamford Bridge, during Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Pep Guardiola’s side. And despite a few challenges and some exchanged words, there was nothing so violent this time.
David Luiz gave an interview to ESPN Brasil after the match, and said things are perfectly normal between them: “I am fully aware of what I do, of the career I have. These are things that happen.”
“I have complete admiration for him, he is a great player. Today, that was in the past. I tried to do my best, mark him in the best way possible, because he is a great player and thank God we managed to do that.”
Luiz explained that despite Chelsea’s victory over Manchester City, there’s still no feeling the Premier League title is nearly won. The Brazilian defender and his teammates are making sure they focus on the rest of the season.
With eight fixtures left, Chelsea are now seven points clear. Manchester City have dropped to fourth place after last night’s defeat.
