Earlier on Wednesday, we relayed an article published by Le10 Sport regarding Tiemoué Bakayoko’s situation, and Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the player.
According to the French website, the Chelsea defensive midfielder was in talks, described as being at ‘an advanced stage’, with the Ligue 1 champions regarding a potential move there.
The main obstacle, as always, would be finding common ground with the Premier League club, who originally paid €40m for his services.
Considering Bakayoko is now three years into his Stamford Bridge contract and hasn’t exactly made headlines either in London or on loan at Milan and Monaco, it’s only reasonable for Chelsea to accept making a bit of a loss.
As Monaco will not be triggering the €43m option to buy in their current loan deal, other clubs are now free to come knocking.
Paris Saint-Germain are one of them, but, determined not to overpay this summer, Leonardo is currently aiming to only spend €30m on a new midfielder.
That’s close to Chelsea’s asking price, and perhaps a common ground could be found, although we’ll have to wait and see about that.
