If Sportmediaset in Italy are to be believed, then Chelsea and Juventus have reached an agreement for the transfer of Gonzalo Higuain.
This is a move that has been talked about for quite some time, with many outlets believing a swap between the Argentinian striker and Alvaro Morata could take place, but it seems it’s just straight cash from the Blues.
The Italian outlet believe the two sides have agreed on a €60m fee, and that an official announcement could be made soon after Maurizio Sarri taking over from Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
That, of course, is the big issue here, as it seems Chelsea are working on transfers their current official manager hasn’t requested, already planning for the next man in charge without having found a way to free the former Napoli coach from his contract with the Serie A club.
There’s no mention of how much Higuain would earn with the Premier League club or how long he would sign for, but knowing the Blues and their contract policy for players in their 30s, we doubt he’ll be handed a four-year deal.
This is quite the bombshell, and it’ll be interesting to see if anyone else picks it up and corroborates it, but, once again, if Sarri never gets announced, all this work might have been for nothing.
