On Tuesday morning, a report from Catalan newspaper Sport claimed Chelsea joined Barcelona in the race for Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda.

With the Camp Nou side struggling to find a deal for the signing, it was claimed that the Blues entered the battle and could soon make an attempt to outbid them.

It turns out that as outlet AS now talks about this subject, they claim to have confirmed Sport’s news and say Chelsea want Fresneda.

It’s claimed that the Blues are another ‘serious option’ for the full-back, and they could make an offer ‘in the next few days’.

Chelsea’s attempt is conditioned to the possibility that Barcelona don’t close a deal for Fresneda in the coming hours.

It’s said Barça’s latest offer for the transfer wasn’t enough, and Real Valladolid have been waiting for them to improve their bid.

That apparently opened a chance for Chelsea, who became a ‘suitor’ for the signing and will be watching the situation.

Barcelona’s last offer had been said to be of €10m plus €5m, so that wouldn’t be an expensive battle for the Blues to get into.
