It seems that David Luiz wasn’t enough, as Chelsea keep being linked to defenders week after week. Things haven’t really changed much since the summer window, since some of the rumours are still the same.
As reported by Premium Sport in Italy, the Blues are still keen on signing AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger.
The Italian outlet claims Chelsea would be ready to place a bid of over €30m for the 23-year-old. Roma have reportedly paid €13m for the defender, so it would be a decent profit for them.
Premium Sport says that Rudiger can play both as a central defender in a 3, but is also very happy doing so in a three man defence. So that would allow Conte to have more options in different formations, something we all know he likes.
Rudiger joined Roma during the summer of 2015, but suffered a knee ligament injury and stayed out for a big part of last season. He seems to have recovered well though, and he’s already made six appearances since his return in mid October.
