In January, Lille star Jonathan David revealed he’s flattered after Chelsea and a few other clubs have shown interest in him. The striker also stated the Blues were one of the clubs he imagined playing for as a child.
Fast forward to April and today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport talks about Chelsea’s desire to sign the 24-year-old.
The Canada international has scored 23 goals and registered seven assists from 40 games for the Ligue 1 side.
His performances have seen him attract the attention of a few clubs, including Chelsea and Napoli. The newspaper focuses on the latter as they have to bring in a replacement for Victor Osimhen, who’s set to leave the Serie A side after this season.
David is one of the main targets for the Naples club, and they will have to fight with Premier League sides for his signature. The Italian club are trying to get ahead of the competition in the race for the Ligue 1 frontman.
Corriere explain Chelsea are one of the clubs to have lined up for David and are ‘ready to challenge’ Napoli to secure his services.
With David publicly flirting with Chelsea interest earlier this year, the Blues may have an easy route to seal the deal in the summer.
