Michy Batshuayi is the third choice striker for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard this season, behind Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
The Belgium international has not featured for the Blues yet and reports have linked him with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the 25-year-old is ‘currently outside’ the plans of the former Derby County boss’ plans for this term, despite what Lampard says publicly.
He has emerged as a transfer target for AS Roma, who are looking to bolster their attacking division after securing Edin Dzeko’s future.
It’s claimed Batshuayi’s name is precisely on ‘top of their list’, following an approval from Serie A side’s manager Paulo Fonseca.
Should the Italian capital club fail to land the Chelsea player, they have identified Atlético Madrid’s Nikola Kalinic as a plan B.
Earlier reports from Belgium suggested the forward will fight for a place at Chelsea, but Batshuayi’s playing time is likely to be restricted if he continues at the club.
