Look, it’s almost certain that Milan will buy Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea at the end of the season.
The only way it doesn’t happen is if the club have a bad run of games and drop out of the Champions League qualifying spots, but six points from the last three matches should be enough to see them through.
The extra money from making it to Europe’s elite competition would allow them to comfortably pay Chelsea the €28m they are owed, which is why Milan News 24 label the whole process as a ‘mere formality’.
Already managing to negotiate the price down from €35m to €28m back in January, it’s explained the pre-agreed fee will be ‘difficult to retouch’, meaning the Blues aren’t open to talks looking to lower it even more.
Either way, the website make it clear that ‘the news today is that Milan are willing to pay’ the fee ‘in full’.
Good news for Tomori, who reportedly wants to stay put as he knows he’s guaranteed minutes so long as he performs well, but perhaps less so for Thomas Tuchel, who will have never had a chance to work alongside the 23-year-old, especially with the Blues looking for a new centre-back.
