Chelsea signed Ross Barkley from Everton in January and he played just 131 minutes in the Premier League during the second half of last season under Antonio Conte’s guidance.
The Italian coach was replaced by his compatriot, Maurizio Sarri, and the 24-year-old has impressed for the Blues since the arrival of the former Napoli manager at Stamford Bridge.
After netting the crucial equaliser in stoppage time against Manchester United and also helping his side maintain their unbeaten run in the league, the England international scored once and registered two assists in his side’s 4-0 victory over Burnley on Sunday.
His display at Turf Moor saw La Gazzetta dello Sport include him in their European Team of the Week, along with Lyon’s Memphis Depay, Bayern Munich’s teenage midfieler Kai Havertz and Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund.
Barkley received a rating of 7.5 and has so far scored three goals and registered three assists in nine Premier League appearances. After a disappointing season under Conte, the former Toffees man looks like a completely different player in Sarri’s Chelsea.
The transfer is looking far better than it once did.
