Leeds United signed Laurens De Bock from Club Brugge in January.

He made seven appearances in the Championship during the second half of last season and after the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa and falling behind Barry Douglas and Tom Pearce in the pecking order, the English club allowed the left-back join K.V. Oostende on a loan deal.

The 25-year-old returned to Belgium this campaign, where he spent the majority of his career with Lokeren and Brugge.

He had a good start with the latter but the arrival of Anthony Limbombe from NEC in 2016 saw De Bock’s first team appearances being limited.

Ivan Leko arrived at Club Brugge in 2017 and that, along with other factors played a role in De Bock’s decision to leave the Jupiler Pro League club and join the Whites earlier this year.

“My situation was pretty clear and it was better for all parties that I joined a new club. Leko wanted a type of player on the left who had more attacking skills,” he told Het Nieuwsblad, as quoted by Voetbal Belgie.

“I think everybody saw that Limbombe had more qualities going forward. Also, there was just nothing to say in. When I left, that was not really a surprise for the rest of the group, but in the end everyone allowed me to transfer to Leeds.”

At Oostende, De Bock has started in three matches in the league in the 2018/19 season.
