Timo Werner returning to RB Leipzig should be all tied up over the next couple of days.
Bild report the forward will arrive in Germany on Monday, and will have his first training session with the Bundesliga side on Wednesday. From there he’s expected to be in Leipzig’s squad for the Saturday match against FC Koln.
According to the German newspaper, the ‘final details’ of the move are being clarified, with Leipzig set to initially pay around €20m for their former player.
Once everything is sorted out, Werner is expected to sign a five-year contact.
There’s no indication of any further bonuses in the transfer, although Chelsea will have surely pushed for those given what they originally paid for the player. Werner himself will have to take a big cut in salary, with Leipzig unable to get close to what he’s been earning at Stamford Bridge.
Werner will hope to be a regular starter after the move, and to find the back of the net regularly ahead of the Qatar World Cup later this year.
