Recently telling the BBC that he wasn’t all that interested in continuing at Chelsea, and most certainly did not want to go back out on loan, Kenneth Omeruo could very well leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Since arriving at Chelsea in 2012 from Standard Liège, the 23-year-old defender has spent time on loan with ADO Den Haag, Middesbrough (twice), and both Kasimpasa and Alanyaspor in Turkey.

Making 24 appearances for the latter this season and scoring one goal, Omeruo is set to return to Chelsea in July, and, with two years left on his Stamford Bridge contract, will probably look elsewhere for a permanent transfer.

Aware of the situation, the Blues appear to be all for that, and, according to OwnGoalNigeria, have set a price for clubs to match if they want to acquire the young defender’s services.

The website claims that Chelsea have let Omeruo’s representatives know that were a team to bid £7m for their client, the offer would be accepted.

The only way the 23-year-old would stay at Stamford Bridge would be if he was guaranteed time in the first-team, but with the likes of Kurt Zouma, David Luiz, Gary Cahill already there, as well as the return of Andreas Christensen, that seems unlikely.

Seeing as Chelsea will have spent a lot less than £7m on him in the first place, they’ll see this as a welcome profit on a player who, despite never making an appearance for them, already has 33 caps for Nigeria.
