Portuguese side Braga are waiting for Lucas Piazon to end his relationship with Chelsea before finalising a move for the midfielder.
That’s according to O Jogo, who provide the latest on the Brazilian’s future after speculation in recent days.
Yesterday we brought you several reports from Portugal that the Chelsea midfielder was set to end his current loan deal at Rio Ave before heading to join Braga.
Those reports stated that he would be terminating his contract with Chelsea to make the move, and O Jogo back that up today.
The deal with them is settled, but they are waiting for the player to ‘complete the process of untying’ himself from Chelsea, who he has played for since 2012 when he joined as a youngster from FC Sao Paulo B.
The deal has only been made possible by his current deal at Rio Ave including an option for it to be ended prematurely, which is set to happen.
Braga had been planning on a move in the summer when Piazon was available on a free, but manager Carlos Carvalhal has agreed to take him this month and rush the deal in this transfer window instead.
The move will see the player reuniting with the manager, whom he worked with at Rio Ave last season, and bring an end to an eight-year spell at Chelsea that has seen him make no fewer than eight loan spells away from the club.
