Phillipe Coutinho’s agent would like to place the Brazilian at Chelsea, with both them and Newcastle United now ready to ‘pull the strings’ to sign him this summer.
The midfielder is unlikely to stay at Bayern Munich, where he has been spending this season on loan after they decided not to exercise a purchase option in his deal.
Everything indicates he will also be on the move from Barcelona too, with him ‘looking for a way out’ despite manager Quique Setién indicating he could have a place for him.
Instead, everything indicates that he will be leaving the Camp Nou and a return to the Premier League is likely, according to Sport.
There is a ‘great lineup’ of clubs ready to bring him back to England and chief among them at this point are Chelsea and Newcastle, who are ‘better placed’ than others.
Of those two, Chelsea are his agent’s preferred destination, and he is ‘highly admired’ at the club, but it’s unclear whether the money may be better elsewhere.
That could certainly be the case if Newcastle’s takeover by a Saudi Arabian investment firm is finalised, with numerous reports they are ready to invest heavily in the transfer market.
Both clubs are aware that Barcelona are ready to negotiate and would be willing to do a loan deal or permanent transfer, all that remains to be discovered is where he ends up.
