Philippe Coutinho wants to return to the Premier League this summer and the Barcelona owned player considers Chelsea as one of the potential destinations, according to Sport.
It’s claimed the Brazil international was offered to Serie A clubs, but they turned down the chance to sign him.
The 27-year-old’s agent is trying to convince the Blues, one of the most interested clubs, to complete a deal for his client.
According to the claims, Chelsea ‘negotiate a formula’ for the transfer and their idea would be to only consider a loan deal. Any club willing take Coutinho on a temporary deal must pay a loan fee and also take care of his full salary.
Barca, however, are looking to avoid another loan spell and they are prioritising the former Liverpool star’s sale this summer.
According to the report, the Camp Nou side are trying to close the transfer before the end of this month to include the money received from his sale in the ongoing financial year. However, that seems unlikely.
Quique Setién’s side need €90m for Coutinho, but are aware their demand will not be met. Therefore, the La Liga winners are willing to take a player from the west London club plus a fee of around €50-60m for the South American.
Sport’s report mainly indicates that Barca are determined to cut ties with Coutinho and they are ready to work out various options to sanction his move, preferably on a permanent transfer.
With Chelsea also reportedly looking at other targets, it remains to be seen whether or not Coutinho will arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.
