Chelsea are today back to being linked to FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

The Blues’ comeback for the player is commented on by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, who say they could try for the signing again.

The reason, of course, is Kepa Arrizabalaga’s move to Real Madrid, which will open a spot in Chelsea’s squad.

A Bola recalls that Costa was always one of the ‘top names’ in the Blues’ list of goalkeepers, as in June they had already made an approach for the signing.

Porto will only let their goalkeeper go in case someone pays €75m. Chelsea’s consultation at that time was to know whether they could pay that amount in three instalments of €25m.

The Dragons said no, and the player remains at the club, with agent Jorge Mendes still handling all matters regarding his future. And since the representative has some ‘proximity’ with Chelsea, this possibility of a Stamford Bridge move remains ‘in the air’.

Chelsea have already spent €22m on signing Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, but after losing two goalkeepers, they may have to spend a little more on the position.
