Antonio Rüdiger has entered his final 12 months of his contract at Chelsea.
Back in May, the defender said he would hold talks with the Blues over his future after Euro 2020. However, there has been no news about his renewal so far.
Last month, reports from Spain explained about Real Madrid wanting to sign the centre-back on a free transfer in 2022.
Sport1 say the centre-back’s brother, Sahr Senesie, is negotiating with the west London club’s director, Marina Granovskaia, and the initial talks between the two parties took place a month ago.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are keen on retaining the former AS Roma man and in order to convince him to continue at Stamford Bridge, Sport1 claim they have to ‘stretch a lot’. That’s because the player is currently not one of the top earners at the club.
It’s claimed ‘everything is open’ as the Germany international has ‘no clear tendency’ on whether to continue with the Champions League winners or move elsewhere as a free agent.
According to the report, several top sides are ‘keeping a close eye’ on his situation.
Rüdiger, for his part, ‘wants to take time’ before making a decision on where he wants to play beyond this season.
