The past week or so hasn’t been great for Tiemoué Bakayoko, whose future at Milan has been placed in doubt by the Italian media.
It first started with Corriere dello Sport, who stated the Serie A club were prepared to give the Chelsea defensive midfielder six to eight more games to prove his worth or they would ‘go in a different direction’.
Then came Il Messaggero, who explained the chances of Milan triggering the €35m redemption clause in his contract were ‘heavily at risk’.
This all led to rumours the Italians could cut the loan deal short, and send Bakayoko back to Chelsea in January.
Well, that isn’t going to happen, according to the agent who helped get the summer deal over the line.
Federico Pastorello told Calciomercato.com: “Bakayoko is happy in Milan and Milan are happy with him. It was known he would need a bit of time, but everyone is convinced he can contribute a lot to their season. All this chatter about a return to Chelsea in January is completely unfounded.”
Since joining Milan on loan, the 24-year-old has only made six appearances, totalling 262 minutes of football, 180 of which came in two starts in the Europa League against Olympiakos and F91 Dudelange.
