If there’s one player at Chelsea who is very unlikely to leave this summer, it’s probably N’Golo Kanté.

The French midfielder, currently with his national team in Russia, has been one of the key performers in the Premier League, both for the Blues and Leicester City, since his arrival from Caen in 2015, and is now widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

That being said, his unlikeliness of being transferred doesn’t mean clubs can’t be interested, and that’s exactly what Real Madrid are.

According to Téléfoot at the weekend, hidden right at the bottom of an article about Edinson Cavani singing Kanté praises, is the information that the Champions League winners are following the France international ‘very closely’, despite him being untransferable.

Already boasting Casemiro for the role, it seems a bit unnecessary for Real Madrid to be also wanting the Chelsea star, but when has logic ever prevailed when Florentino Pérez really wants a player in the Spanish capital?

How much Antonio Conte’s current side would want for Kanté remains a mystery, but considering the defensive midfielder’s stock in world football, it’s probably going to be a hell of a lot of money.
