Despite what Claudio Lotito might be saying in public, the general consensus in Italy is that Sergej Milinković-Savić will leave Lazio this summer.
That means a replacement is needed, and the most appropriate one in the eyes of Maurizio Sarri is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, currently at Chelsea.
The Englishman is a player the manager knows well from his time at Stamford Bridge, utilising more than both his predecessors and successors, including Thomas Tuchel.
Corriere dello Sport have an article on the matter on Wednesday, explaining Lazio know Sarri ‘would like Chelsea’s Loftus-Cheek’.
With the Blues going through ‘weeks of transition’, the future of many players will eventually need to be decided, and the belief is the 26-year-old ‘can leave in the summer’, and he ‘would like to try an experience abroad’.
However, the issue for Lazio is ‘costs have to be considered when dealing with players like this’, as he currently has a wage of around €3.5m/year.
That’s why he could ‘move on loan for a year’, but the price for any future transfer ‘is to be defined’.
The towering midfielder has played a decent amount of football this year at Chelsea under Tuchel, featuring in 37 games, scoring one goal and assisting another five.
