Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has made a decision to join Barcelona in the next window, according to Sport on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old has less than six months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and has refused to sign a new deal offered by the west London club.
He changed agents towards the end of last year and is now represented by KIN Partners. Clubs in England made ‘more succulent proposals’ than the one offered by the La Liga side.
The centre-back’s representative favoured Thomas Tuchel’s man continuing in the Premier League, but he was ‘attracted by the idea’ of being part of Xavi Hernández’s project and playing at the Camp Nou.
Barca are doing their homework on signing potential free agents in the summer and the first one to arrive will be the Denmark international.
That’s because Christensen wants to leave Chelsea, a club he joined as a 15-year-old, with a ‘good taste’. The Blues are in contention to retain the Champions League and he doesn’t want to disrupt the season with his move to Barcelona.
On Tuesday, journalist Gerard Romero reported there is a ‘total agreement’ for the Dane to join the Spanish club.
Claims made by Romero are relayed by Mundo Deportivo, who contacted the club for confirmation.
Barcelona, however, only said ‘no comment’ on this topic.
Mundo adds Christensen has a ‘verbal agreement’ with Xavi’s side, who are working to make the agreement for five seasons.
