Spanish newspaper Marca have a big feature in their Saturday edition on the futures of Shkodran Mustafi and Andre Gomes. It’s explained that Valencia need to sell a star this summer to ease themselves financially, and it’s likely to be one of them.
After months of the Spanish press reporting that Andre Gomes was to be the goose to lay Valencia a golden egg, Marca now say the club would prefer to sell Shkodran Mustafi.
We’d suspect the change in tact is because Valencia haven’t had the offers for Gomes they thought would come, but Marca insist that Chelsea and Juventus have both submitted a ‘formal proposal’ for the midfielder.
Maybe those approaches are for far less than the €65m Valencia were said to be asking, which did sound a little too much.
It had been Manchester United more linked with Gomes, but now Marca have changed tact to Chelsea. Still, it’s claimed Valencia don’t want to sell, so are now pushing the idea of Mustafi leaving.
