Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has urged the club to let him know whether he still has a future at Stamford Bridge.
The Dutchman has been at Chelsea since 2013 after making an £8m move from Vitesse Arnhem.
There was high expectation around the midfielder at the time, with many hoping he would be a future star in Blue.
However, he has since made just four appearances for the Chelsea first team, and eight for the Under 23s, instead spending most of his career with the club out on loan.
His last spell saw him spending two years at PSV Eindhoven, but that ended in 2018, and he has since been battling back from a cruciate injury picked up that summer.
His recovery has been beset by setbacks, so much so that he now finds himself in the final year of his contract at Chelsea and it due to expire in the summer.
So far they’ve not shown any indication he’ll be staying, and the 27-year-old has urged them to make their choice and let him know.
“I have no idea what’s going to happen. Chelsea have to let me know next month what they plan to do. I’ll call them in a couple of weeks,” he told Voetbal International.
“I don’t know. Because of the current crisis a lot can change in contracts and salaries in the soccer industry. These are uncertain times for many people. We’ll just have to wait and see.
“They can also think; we’ve invested a lot in that boy, and now he’s finally fit. Let’s keep him fit.
“It’s in the little things. Training with a group, playing matches. I’m looking forward to that.
“I hope to be able to do that for a long time to come. Play soccer till I’m 34? That’s what I’m signing up for.”
