The Marco Asensio to Liverpool story has been huge over the past few days, with someone clearly pushing the claims to the Spanish media.
Several newspapers have independently reported interest from Anfield, and even the idea of a €180m offer for the Real Madrid player, and other clubs haven’t really been brought into the Spanish story yet.
El Confidencial have it slightly differently and say Liverpool and other clubs have asked about opening negotiations to sign the player. There’s only one of the other clubs named, and that’s Chelsea.
Spending seems more restricted at Chelsea now than it previously has done, and there’s no mention from El Confidencial of what the Premier League club would be prepared to pay for 22 year old Asensio.
Real Madrid themselves have been repeatedly linked with Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard and if the claims of Asensio interest from Stamford Bridge continue then it can’t be long until swap reports appear.
El Confidencial believe clubs interested in Asensio have this week been given hope after the player spoke about reported interest but made no attempt to dismiss the idea of a move, instead saying he’ll wait until after the World Cup.
