Bayer Leverkusen director Simon Rolfes has insisted there has been no offer from Chelsea for Kai Havertz yet.
Havertz has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bundesliga club this summer, after managing 17 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season.
Chelsea are thought to be at the front of the queue for his signature, with numerous reports indicating they will make a significant effort.
Indeed, this month there have been almost daily reports about their interest, with a report on the 21st suggesting that Marina Granovskaia was meeting with Leverkusen chiefs to thrash out a deal.
Every indication so far has been that a move will happen, but according to Rolfes, there has been no bid as yet.
“We have no official offer,” Kicker report him saying in a press conference.
“We have not yet had an offer. We know that clubs are interested, but there is no official offer.
“He is focused. Kai is relaxed with the speculations, is focused, in a good mood.
“He makes a good impression. The holiday did him good like the other players.”
Indeed, several sides have already started making moves, with Manchester City already close to completing a double deal for Ferran Torres and Nathan Aké.
Chelsea have likewise been busy, with deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner wrapped up before the transfer window had even opened.
Rolfes, though, has suggested that Blues fans may be left waiting before any deal for Havertz is wrapped up.
“In a transfer window, which is particularly long this time, it is normal that not everything is always cleared up early,” he warned.
“As a club and also as a sports director, clarifying the squad for the new season as early as possible is the desired scenario, however rarely the reality.
“So we do our job anyway, always prepare and watch the market. We will see how personal data develops in the near future.”
Of course, Havertz is not the only young star that could be arriving in the Premier League from the Bundesliga this summer.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho has been heavily linked with a move to England too, with Manchester United thought to be chasing him.
He’s been valued at €120m according to reports, leading some to claim Leverkusen should be asking for a similar price for their star man.
However, Rolfes says it’s important to treat them as individuals.
“You have to differentiate,” he added.
“With many normal players, things will change, and clubs will also act differently.
“But these are two exceptional players who are very rare and therefore have value. That is why we see the situation very relaxed here.”
