Italian newspaper Tuttosport has a big story on Juventus’ intention to sign Roma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi. The Old Lady is apparently keen on adding the player to their squad, and now work on convincing him to make the move, as his contract with Roma expires in 2019.
But the interesting thing which Tuttosport adds to the article is that Juventus should fear the competition from Chelsea, since the Blues could also be interested in the midfielder.
First they mention that Chelsea and Atletico Madrid would also be ‘floating around’ the player, but in another paragraph, the reason to report the Blues’ interest doesn’t make much sense.
They claim that Florenzi was first indicated to Juventus by Antonio Conte, when the manager was still in charge of the club. And that would be a reason why the boss would now be interested in taking him to London.
But with the next transfer window only opening in the summer, and it being increasingly likely Conte won’t be at Chelsea by then, would he really be planning a signing at this stage? Or is it a sign that he’s staying?
